Dear Judge,
Thank you for registering as a Judge for the Region 4 North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair. The next step is to complete your Judge Milestones in STEM Wizard so that you can be assigned an appropriate category. Please do not hesitate to accept a lead judge role. The responsibilities simply include hosting the virtual judging session, keeping track of the time allotted to each student, and forwarding the final scores to the regional director.
1-2 weeks prior to the fair date you will receive your category assignments, project materials for review, rubrics and schedule so that you can begin preparing for the judging session. Remember, each student gets 10 minutes to present. You may wish to introduce yourselves briefly, let the student give a quick 2-3 minute overview, and then proceed with questions. It will be handy to keep a copy of the rubric in the background so you easily score the student or make notes quickly. Just so you are aware, depending on the number of projects, you may or may not have time to deliberate between students but you will have time at the end to discuss privately and potentially adjust your scoring.
Thank you so much for taking time out your schedule to help motivate STEM students. Your time and dedication is greatly appreciated.
